Title
Initial Results On Knowledge Discovery And Decision Support For Intracranial Aneurysms
Abstract
Intracranial Aneurysms are bulbous expansions of the intracranial vessels, that may rupture and lead to subarachnoid haemorrhage, which can result in severe disability or death of the affected person. The prediction of the individual rupture risk of a patient based on information from images, haemodynamic simulations, clinical parameters and genetic markers is one of the aims of the European Integrated Project @neurIST. The predicted rupture risk is meant to support decision making on clinical treatment. We will present initial results on Knowledge Discovery through a combination of text-mining, data integration from public bioinformatics data sources, and database mining. Additionally, we provide first results for decision support through knowledge based clinical guidelines and Bayesian networks.
