Noise in ring oscillators has both random and deterministic components. In this paper a new metric for measuring jitter due to deterministic noise sources, called peak jitter, is developed. Predictive jitter equations are presented for deterministic noise that is symmetrically/asymmetrically injected into the oscillator. These equations agree with direct simulation and highlight the difference between symmetric and asymmetric noise injection. |
