Abstract
•This study investigated impacts of traffic conditions on severity by collision types on freeway.•PCA was used to deal with a large number of correlated lane-specific traffic variables.•Random-parameters sequential logistic regression was used for model development.•The model explains how traffic conditions affect severity probability of different collision types.•The predictive performance of the developed model is satisfactory.
