Title
Facilitating Storytelling And Preservation Of Mementos For The Elderly Through Tangible Interface
Abstract
Mementos act as emotional companions that anchor stories. Current related research is not applicable for the elderly, as they focus more on digital mementos, while the elderly's mementos are normally physical. Additionally, digital devices supporting capture and recording are generally inaccessible for them. The above makes elderly's storytelling and preservation of mementos are still problematic. In response to this, a research prototype named Slots-Memento was designed and implemented. In the field study, six families were recruited. Semi-structured interviews and stories collected were transcribed, and thematic analysis was conducted, which form the foundation of insights on the research questions.
