Abstract
•A novel image guidance system for robot-assisted prostatectomy is presented.•The image guidance system is employed successfully in a clinical study.•This system achieved an average total accuracy of 3.19  ±  1.30 mm in phantom studies.•The results of this work motivate further studies to quantitatively assess the influence of our system on functional and oncological success.
