Affine correspondences are in the focus of work in many research groups nowadays. Components of projective geometry, e.g. homography or fundamental matrix, can be recovered more accurately when not only point but affine correspondences are exploited. This paper quantitatively compares state-of-the-art affine covariant feature detectors based-on outdoor images taken by a quadcopter-mounted camera. Accurate Ground Truth (GT) data can be calculated from the restricted flight path of the quadcopter. The GT data consist of not only affine transformation but feature locations as well. Quantitative comparison and in-depth analysis of the affine covariant feature detectors are also presented. |
