Review of Application of Telepharmacy Solutions in the Practice
Abstract
The pharmacy profession must stay abreast of current trends and changes in information technology to ensure that pharmacists are viewed as key health care providers in contemporary health care system. Telepharmacy is a branch of telehealth where electronic communication systems are used to support pharmacists when there are obstacles in communication between them and the patients. This review focuses on the last five years of telepharmacy solutions applied and tested in practice. After performing selection based on the inclusion criteria, 15 papers were selected for discussion. These telepharmacy solutions covered rural and remote hospitals, remote cancer centers, treatment adherence, technical support and other applications. The main goal of the study was to evaluate the most efficient and applicable telepharmacy solutions for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
