A joint cumulative distribution function and gradient fusion based method for dehazing of long shot hazy images |
Abstract | ||

•This paper proposes a joint cumulative distribution function (JCDF) which effectively enhances the visibility in faraway regions without changing the color in the nearby regions.•It reveals micro details of a long shot hazy scene with preservation of the edges.•The proposed method avoids the need for estimating transmission on the scene, as well as its costly refinement process.•Furthermore, a fast gradient-based fusion scheme is used to extract the best quality regions from a series of progressively generated images. |
